JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A man who was attacked by his dog in Indiana died from his injuries, the Jeffersonville Police Department said. The attack happened July 1 on West Larkspur Drive.
Officers went to the address after getting a call about a dog attack in progress. When officers arrived on the scene they used pepper spray on the dog to stop the attack. When that didn't work, an officer used his service weapon to shoot and kill the dog to end the "vicious attack," police stated in a news release.
Officers and EMS workers treated the man for his injuries from the attack but he later died. Police described the dog as a large pit bull.
The investigation into the attack is continuing, police said.
