Derby Dinner Playhouse celebrates 50 years

Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville celebrated its anniversary with the opening of a new show on Monday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky and southern Indiana favorite is celebrating 50 years in the show business.

Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville started celebrating its anniversary with the opening of a new show on Monday. The show takes attendees on a trip down memory lane, while also looking ahead to the theatre's future.

Each show will feature a special guest at each performance. On Monday night, Sara Gettelfinger made an appearance.

She is a Broadway actor who made her professional stage debut at Derby Dinner when she was 12 years old.

"The people that I met here when I was a kid have stayed dear friends, mentors, and not only shaped who I am as an artist, but very much so as a person," Gettelfinger said. "I am so fortunate because I literally care them with me and the lessons I learned starting here, everyday in my career now."

Here is the performance schedule:

  • July 15 evening – Doors and buffet open at 5:45 p.m., show begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • July 22 evening  – Doors and buffet open at 5:45 p.m., show begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • Aug. 19 matinee – Doors and buffet open at 11:45 a.m., show begins at 1:30 p.m.
  • Aug. 19 evening – Doors and buffet open at 5:45 p.m., show begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 9 matinee – Doors and buffet open at 11:45 a.m., show begins at 1:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 9 evening – Doors and buffet open at 5:45 p.m., show begins at 7:30 p.m.
