NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Editors note: The video in the player is from a March 27, 2024 broadcast.
Floyd County leaders said they are close to reaching a new deal for ambulance service.
County Commissioner Al Knable said during a Tuesday night meeting that he believes they are all in agreement on “option 7.”
The option includes funding for both Highlander Fire Department and AmeriPro.
Knable said even if they do not have the funding organized by the May 31 deadline, the commissioners are able to execute a contract and work out the money later.
"It's not said as a threat. I want that to be a reassurance to people that we're exploring all options, and we will continue to do so down to the wire on this,” he said.
Knable said they are considering a two year and seven month contract for $3.5 million.
The joint body will meet again either Friday or Monday.
