'Glad I wasn't home.' | Southern Indiana crews cleanup aftermath from EF-0 tornado

A couple told WHAS11 they were watching the television in their living room when a massive tree fell through the roof.

CORYDON, Indiana — Blaine Whittaker found her car shed destroyed and several downed trees in her yard after an EF-0 tornado hit just north of Corydon, Indiana Thursday afternoon.

"Definitely glad I wasn't home I think I would've been scared since everything was flying around," she said.

Whittaker took shelter at her parent's home during the tornado on the Fourth of July. The aftermath is bizarre for her to look at, what once covered her vehicle, is now torn to pieces.

"Luckily my car wasn't here because it also would've been destroyed," she added.

The National Weather Service in Louisville reported the tornado had windspeeds up to 85 miles per hour.

"I feel like the tornado basically kind of lifted it up and kind of threw it against the house a little bit," Whittaker said.

Crews were working to remove an uprooted tree that landed on top of a home down the street from Whittaker. The couple who lived there told WHAS11 they were watching television in their living room when the tree fell through the room.

"We don't get many tornadoes around this area, so it was definitely a shock," Whittaker said. "We didn't even know it was a tornado until it was confirmed later."

Luckily, no injuries have been reported.

"Definitely glad that everything and everybody is okay and all the neighbors and people are okay too," Whittaker said, adding that she's enlisted the help of her own family to clean up the debris left behind.
