The approval of the contract means every officer will receive a $6,000 raise.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — The City of Jeffersonville has unanimously approved the Jeffersonville Police Department’s newest contract.

Jeffersonville police said it is less about recruiting and more about retaining the officers they already have.

The approval of the contract means every officer will receive a $6,000 raise.

They were getting paid a little more than $59,000 and will now be paid $66,000 beginning July 1.

Officers will also have a new schedule where they will work a rotating schedule of five days on and four days off.
