Dispute at southern Indiana lake leaves 2 shot, juvenile facing attempted murder

Authorities said a dispute between two groups of juveniles at Rainbow Lake in Perry County led two other juveniles shot and another injured Saturday night.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A dispute between two groups of juveniles has ended with one arrested and facing several charges following a shooting at a southern Indiana lake.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Rainbow Lake in Derby after someone reported shots fired.

During their investigation PCSO found two victims who suffered gunshot wounds. One of the victims was airlifted to UofL Hospital while the other was treated at another facility, according to WEHT. Their conditions are not known. A third victim was injured by broken glass but expected to be okay.

Indiana State Police said PSCO found two vehicles involved in the shooting trying to leave the area.

A juvenile, age and sex unknown, was arrested and taken to the Perry County Jail before he was moved to a juvenile facility.

They are facing attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness, pointing a firearm, dealing and possessing marijuana.

ISP said names in the investigation will not be released because most were juveniles.

Derby, Indiana is about 67 miles west of Louisville.
