LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A U.S. Armed Forces contractor has announced a second major expansion in southern Indiana.
Conco, Inc. will invest more than $71 million to expand its Scottsburg location. It will add 150,000 square feet to the facility to accommodate “increased state-of-the-art manufacturing, finishing and storage capabilities.”
The investment will create 175 more jobs with an average hourly average wage of $30 per hour. Conco had previously announced a $54 million capital investment and 175 jobs in 2023, bringing the total number of jobs to 350.
The Louisville-based company specializes in ammunition containers and has been a full-time supplier of the USAF since 1967.
“The expansion of Conco into Scottsburg represents a major milestone for our community. Their combined $125 million in capital investment and 350 local jobs will have a transformative impact on our local economy. We’re eager as a city to support Conco and to see the positive effects their presence will bring to our growing community,” Scottsburg Mayor Terry Amick said.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation will invest up to $1.9 million in performance-based tax credits – meaning the company will be eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.
The City of Scottsburg is offering Conco personal and real property tax abatement which will be phased in over five and 10 years.
