JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Joseph Oberhansley is being held without bail after his first court appearance unveiled the brutal details of his ex-girlfriend Tammy Blanton's death.

Oberhansley is accused of killing Blanton after breaking into her Locust Street. home. in Jeffersonville last week. He admitted to the crime according to court documents, which also showed that he also admitted to removing and eating parts of Blanton's brain, heart and lung.

This marks the second murder charge filed against Oberhansley, who served prison time for the murder of his girlfriend in Utah in 2000. The Clark County prosecutor said he should not have been out of jail in the first place.

Oberhansley has been in trouble with the law in Indiana before. One time he was accused of strangling a man and on another occasion, in July 2014, he was accused of leading police on a chase.

During Monday's court appearance, Oberhansley claimed he did not commit these crimes and that he did not understand what the judge was talking about. He appeared anxious and repeatedly said his name was 'Zeus Brown'.

Oberhansley currently faces charges of murder, abuse of a corpse and residential entry.

Blanton's family was in court, but declined to comment at this time.
