CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — A 25-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash Tuesday night in southern Indiana.
At about 11 p.m., police and emergency personnel responded to a crash on I-65 North in Clarksville just north of the Eastern Boulevard overpass, according to an Indiana State Police (ISP) news release.
Officers on scene discovered the driver of a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle, later identified as Mason Tyler Brown of New Albany, had been thrown off his bike onto the roadway. He was rushed to UofL Hospital in Louisville where he died soon after.
ISP investigators believe prior to the crash, Brown was travelling on the motorcycle at "extremely high speeds" and passed several vehicles after crossing the Lincoln Bridge.
Shortly after crossing the Indiana-Kentucky state line, Brown collided his motorcycle into the back of a silver 2016 Yukon SUV. According to the news release, the SUV was travelling at the posted speed limit.
The collision threw Brown off his motorcycle and the motorcycle continued traveling into the roadway before striking a parked semi-tractor with a trailer, according to the ISP news release.
None of the occupants in the Yukon SUV reported any injuries and the driver stayed on scene following the crash.
