New Chapel EMS no longer providing 911 emergency medical service to Clark County

The Utica Township Volunteer Fire Fighters Association and New Chapel EMS have agreed to move in a new direction.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — New Chapel EMS will stop providing 911 emergency medical service in Clark County starting Sept. 1 based on a new strategy agreed to by the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighter Association and Clark County EMS.

The organization plans to now focus on the transition to "alternative offices and operations within Clark County" while reconstructing and rebranding for the upcoming months, according to a news release.

"We believe this change in direction is the best decision to make currently for our company, our employees, and the community," New Chapel spokesman S. Coy Travis said in a news release. "We look forward to continuing to play a part - albeit a different  part - in providing ambulance services to the citizens of southern Indiana as we embark on this new course."

New Chapel has dealt with major staffing issues in the wake of Jamey Noel's arrest and pending trial. Travis told WHAS11 New Chapel plans to pull out of its ambulance contract with Clark County on Sept. 1.

He also said New Chapel plans to continue "convalescent runs," such as transporting someone in a non-emergency capacity from a nursing home to a hospital.
