LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In an effort to better New Chapel EMS' emergency response in incidents involving pediatric patients, the service is partnering with another nationally recognized EMS program.
On Wednesday, New Chapel EMS announced the partnership with Handtevy.
The technology is used to help first responders treat critically ill pediatric patients and resuscitate them according to the company's website. Some of the features Handtevy has includes medication dosing information, equipment sizing, CPR assistance, protocols and checklists.
“We are very excited to be bringing the Handtevy system to our clinical providers at New Chapel,” New Chapel EMS President and CEO Matt Owen said. “This platform will be a great added resource for our people when they’re responding to those high acuity/low frequency events when every second counts.”
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) EMS Division helped partially fund the implementation of the program at New Chapel EMS.
"For an organization our size, the state funding helped cover about a quarter of the first-year total start up cost,” Owen said. “We have committed to the on-going costs associated with renewing the service for our providers regardless of if the State is able to come through with support in the future.”
