Judge Larry Medlock said on Monday he will not accept Jamey Noel's plea deal until he hears from victims who have been truly impacted by Noel's alleged crimes. The plea deal includes up to 15 years in prison, 3 years of probation after prison, and over $2.8 million in restitution to the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association.
"Victims...have rights. And I'd like to hear from some of the victims, or a lot of the victims, at a date in the future. In regards to whether they believe this is an appropriate sentence," Medlock said Monday.
Medlock specifically mentioned EMS employees who have lost their jobs as people he would like to hear from.
A date for Noel's sentencing hearing has not been set yet.
