SEYMOUR, Ind. — Two men are facing charges after shooting at a vehicle with six people inside it on Wednesday night.

According to a post on Facebook, the Seymour Police Department responded to the 100 block of S. O’Brien St. in relation to shots being fired around 11 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers said they found a white Jeep SUV with "several bullet holes" and discovered that the incident happened behind the Captain D’s restaurant on E. Tipton Street.

Authorities determined that a suspect vehicle was headed east on Tipton St. after the shots were fired. Police soon figured out the vehicle was in the Jeffersonville area.

Robert Rummel, 20, and Alvin Huttsell, 19, were both taken into custody around 3 a.m. by Jeffersonville Police and were brought to the Seymour Police Department.

While officers were interviewing them, Huttsell admitted to being the shooter and Rummel admitted to driving the vehicle.

Huttsell was arrested for 48 counts of attempted murder, and Rummel was arrested for 48 counts of conspiracy to commit attempted murder and 48 counts of assisting a criminal.

Authorities said at least eight shots were fired at the victim’s Jeep, and there were six people in the vehicle --resulting in the 48 counts. Police believe the incident started with two people arguing about another person.

There were no reported injuries, officers said.

Rummel and Huttsell are both currently booked at the Jackson County Jail.
