JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. — Police say a suspect in a Jackson County bank robbery was quickly apprehended Tuesday.
It happened at a branch of Jackson County Bank at Main and Commerce streets in Brownstown.
According to Indiana State Police, dispatchers received an alarm around 2:30 p.m. The report said a man with a gun entered the bank and pointed it at employees. He then fled on foot with cash taken in the crime.
When officers arrived, a witness told them the suspect got into a black car that had two other people in it. A short time later, a Brownstown Police Department officer found a black Nissan on Vallonia Road. When the officer stopped the car, a person emerged from the rear seat "while holding a handgun and a large amount of cash," police said in a release.
The man was taken into custody without incident. Two women in the car were eventually released, ISP said.

The suspect was taken to the Jackson County Jail, where he was held on a preliminary charge of robbery.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
