LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Opioid prescriptions have decreased in Indiana by more than 35 percent over a 5-year period, according to a national report.
The American Medical Association Opioid Task Force shows Indiana’s reduction in prescriptions from 2013 to 2018 is two percentage points higher than the national average.
In 2017, the Indiana General Assembly passed a law that limits medical providers to only writing an opioid prescription for a 7-day supply when first prescribing a patient.
