JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Residents and park lovers on the “sunny side” of the Ohio River now have a new place to visit.
Mayor Mike Moore, city officials and the Jeffersonville Parks Department celebrated the grand opening of Chapel Lake Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We needed a park where people can just come out and relax. Leave the phone in the car, bring ya a fishing pole, get out here and do a little fishing, take you a walk, just get away. You're close to everything, but yet you can be in the middle of this park and forget all your problems,” the mayor said.
The 116-acre park is located off New Chapel Road and it includes a lake, shelter house, a playground and walking trails.
Chapel Lake Park is the largest park east of Interstate 265.
