2 men arrested after allegedly breaking into southern Indiana home and beating homeowner

Officers responded to a house on Rebecca Court in relation to a home invasion and robbery in the early morning hours on Thursday.

SEYMOUR, Ind. — Two men were arrested after allegedly breaking into a southern Indiana home and beating the homeowner. 

The Seymour Police Department said officers responded to a house on Rebecca Court in relation to a home invasion and robbery in the early morning hours on Thursday. 

Police said it was reported that multiple people "unlawfully" entered the home, beat the homeowner, and stole several belongings. 

After officers gathered statements and reviewed surveillance footage from the area, they believe they learned the identities of the suspects involved. Authorities said they went to the 900 block of N. Park St. where they arrested David Hatchett, 31, and Logan Lance, 21, and collected evidence. 

After interviewing the two, investigators said they received a confession. Additionallyofficers were granted a search warrant for a vehicle on the property, where they said additional evidence was found. 

Hatchett and Lane were both arrested for robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, burglary resulting in serious bodily injury, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and residential entry.
