CHARLESTOWN, Ind. — Thousands of residents in a southern Indiana city are having water issues on Monday.

Indiana American Water is advising nearly 5,000 customers in Charlestown that the water system is under a 24-hour boil water advisory.

Earlier on Monday, a pump failed at the company's Gospel Road water tank and caused a drop in water pressure for nearly 10 minutes, according to an Indiana American Water news release.

The Boil Water Advisory is expected to lift Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

"Indiana American Water takes great pride in what we do and hold ourselves to high standards in delivering safe, reliable drinking water service to our customers. We apologize for any inconvenience our customers have experienced due to pump failure," Indiana American Water said in a news release.
