Southern Indiana woman dies in head-on crash near Salem

The two-vehicle crash happened near Salem on State Road 56 just east of Heritage Chapel Road around 5 p.m. Monday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Indiana authorities are investigating a crash in Washington County that left a Scott County woman dead and two others seriously injured.

The two-vehicle crash happened near Salem on State Road 56 just east of Heritage Chapel Road around 5 p.m. Monday.

In their preliminary investigation, Indiana State Police said a red Toyota driven by 27-year-old Hanah Marie Davis of Scottsburg was headed eastbound on State Road 56. Somehow, the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Jeep Gladiator.

Davis died from her injuries and the Jeep’s two occupants, also from Scott County, were rushed to UofL Hospital in Louisville with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police closed the roadway for three hours while the investigation took place.

No other injuries were reported.
