Louisville home a 'total loss' after a devastating fire in Irish Hill neighborhood

The call about the fire came in at about 5 a.m. Thursday, according to MetroSafe officials.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville firefighters are working to put out a house fire in the Irish Hill neighborhood Thursday morning.

At about 5 a.m., Louisville Fire Department crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Hull Street.

Firefighters were on the scene within three minutes to find the two-story camelback home fully engulfed in flames, according to an LFD news release.

There was an immediate request for extra equipment due to the extent of the fire and exposure protection to the adjacent homes.

It took about 35 firefighters approximately 50 minutes to gain control of the fire. Officials are saying the structure is most likely a "total loss."

Crews used defensive operations to battle the main fire building due to a collapse on the structure.

Though the two homes on either side were occupied, everyone got out safely and there were no injuries reported.

One occupant is being assisted by American Red Cross for displacement, according to an LFD news release.

As of 7 a.m., there were still LFD crews at the scene and the fire remains active.

LFD Arson will be investigating the cause of the fire.
