LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several students are being treated for injuries after a crash involving a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) early Tuesday morning.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) said the crash happened around 9:40 a.m. in the Highlands.

A preliminary investigation revealed an SUV was traveling south on Baxter Avenue and was in the process of turning right on Barret Avenue when JCPS Bus 1737 "apparently pulled out in front of the SUV causing them to collide," according to police.

The bus was carrying 40 students, LMPD added.

Seven students were transported to Norton Children's Hospital for injuries, however authorities said they are all expected to be OK. Police said the bus driver was uninjured, while the SUV driver was checked by EMS on the scene.

LMPD's Fifth Division will be handling the ongoing investigation into the crash, a spokesperson said.
