JCPS releases new information on stipend program

The district is sharing details on how the stipend program will work for families who lost transportation this year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools is sharing more details with families about how a new stipend program will work.

The stipends will be for families who lost their transportation this year.

They will be $5 pers day or $10 for free and reduced lunch families.

In a letter to families, JCPS said those stipends will be calculated based on the number of days a student attends a school each month.

Families will be able to sign up starting Aug. 26 and checks will start going out in groups beginning the week of Sept. 9.

All initial payments are expected by Sept. 26.

The district does not that if transportation is reinstated to a traditional, magnet or non-resides Academies of Louisville school and your child is eligible for that transportation, they will no longer be eligible to receive a stipend regardless of whether the student takes JCPS transportation or not.

They are encouraging parents/guardians to sign up for a JCPS Parent Place account.
