LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All eyes are on the special election race as democrat candidate Cassie Chambers Armstrong and republican candidate Misty Glin are both vying for District 19's state senate seat.
Luckily, the Jefferson County Clerk's office is making the voting process fairly simple.
In order to vote in this race, residents must live in District 19, which includes neighborhoods such as Highview, Audubon Park and much of the Highlands for a total of 100,000 eligible voters.
Voters must bring with them a form of I.D. which includes their name and photo. Election security is the Clerk's Office's top priority in this race, officials ensure that every vote will be counted.
Erran Huber, Jefferson County Clerk's Office director of communications, said anyone with an absentee ballot can still turn in their ballot on election day anytime between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
"Anyone can return their absentee ballot by mail but if they want to make sure that it's in on time, they can go to any of the 12 locations that we have available for early voting and we have a drop box available and it is secure," he said.
There is also assistance for voters who may have a disability and need help voting.
"We have a machine that's available which is called the 'express vote' so if somebody has difficulty using a pen and the balance they can go use the 'express vote' and they can cast their ballot using a touch screen," said Huber.
