1 person dead, another seriously injured in rollover crash in southern Indiana

The driver was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with "serious bodily injuries."

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Indiana — One person is dead and another is in serious condition after a rollover crash in southern Indiana on Sunday.

The Jefferson County, Indiana Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on W. Deputy Pike Road, between N. County Road 300 W. and N. Borcherding Road.

Authorities said the passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with "serious bodily injuries," however. 

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and Indiana State Police are assisting with reconstruction of the collision. 

Officials said the road remains closed at this time due to the crash and a downed utility pole. 

Drivers are advised to take an alternative route.
