LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson is coming to Louisville Sunday to participate in a conversation with Rev. Kevin Cosby at St. Stephen Church.
St. Stephen confirmed Jackson will be in attendance during their 9:30 a.m. service, which will be shared online.
Jackson's arrival will come after what would have been Breonna Taylor's 27th birthday Friday, June 5. Protesters have continued to flood the city, moving through the east end, advocating for both changes to Louisville's no-knock policies and the firing of officers involved in Taylor's death.
Breonna's Law, an ordinance that would regulate and provide guidelines for LMPD's use of no-knock warrants, passed Metro Council's Public Safety Committee unanimously Wednesday.
Additionally, Mayor Greg Fischer announced the immediate end to Louisville's curfew following peaceful demonstrations. Gov. Andy Beshear previously announced they would lessen the amount of Kentucky National Guard members in the city after the death of David McAtee early Monday morning.
