LOUISVILLE, Ky. — (WHAS11) – Our thoughts are with Doug Proffitt who lost his father Dec. 17. He was a man Doug looked up to his whole life.
Jim Proffitt was the last living member of Bear Bryant's starting line-up in the 1952 UK Cotton Bowl. He was a man larger than life both on and off the football field. He ran the family business, "The Food Basket" Gateway Supermarket on Taylor Boulevard for 30 years and then joined the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Jim Proffitt was 87.
