LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A judge makes her ruling in a DUI crash that killed a tow truck driver.

The woman behind the wheel was in court this past week asking for shock probation.

Judge Angela McCormick-Bisig denied Paula Oppel's request on Wednesday.

Oppel was sentenced to 12-years last May for the 2014 crash on Beulah Church Road.

Jewan Turner died from that crash.

His parents were in court last week pleading with the judge to keep Oppel behind bars.

"Her removal from society until she can do like my husband said what she needs to do, will help somebody else's family never ever to feel this," Jewan Turner's mother said.

Oppel's blood alcohol limit was more than twice the legal limit.
