CLARK CO., Ind. (WHAS11) -- An Indiana man accused of his ex-girlfriend's gruesome killing has been ruled competent to stand trial.
Prosecutors say Joseph Oberhansley broke into the home of Tammy Jo Blanton in September 2014. He allegedly raped her, stabbed her to death and then ate parts of her body.
Oberhansley was found not competent to stand trial in 2017 and sent to a state hospital.
When a hospital psychiatrist found his competency was restored, he returned to jail in July.
Oberhansley's murder trial is scheduled for August 2019.
