FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky’s first “confiscated alcohol auction” is about to launch with dozens of bottles up for grabs.

The online auction launches on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and ends at midnight on Dec. 11.

A new state law signed in April, House Bill 439, allows the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to auction items confiscated from closed criminal investigations.

Proceeds benefit Kentucky’s responsibility programs like Project Prom and Project Graduation.

Thirty-two bottles of alcohol, including two bottles of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year, a Blanton’s Single Barrel Gold in a box with Japanese markings, an a “stock the bar” bundle which includes bottles of wine, vodka, rum and Jack Daniel’s Vanilla are all up for auction.

Auctioned items can’t be shipped, so winning bidders will need to pick up their items in Frankfort, according to a news release.

“We are proud to help finance educational programs that promote responsible alcohol use by adults and awareness programs for youth,” ABC Commissioner Allyson Taylor said. “We look forward to seeing the response to this auction and have started planning additional auctions for 2025.”
