LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Lace up your running shoes and get ready because the course is set for the Kentucky Derby Festival's 2024 GE Appliances miniMarathon and Marathon.

On Wednesday, KDF released the official route for next year's race, which will be on April 27, 2024.

This will be KDF's 51st annual miniMarthon and the 23rd annual Marathon. Officials said the race attracts more than 10,000 runners each year. And, for the first time since 2019, organizers said both races will only be on the Kentucky side of the river.

Register to run in the 2024 KDF miniMarathon and Marathon.

Officials said the miniMarathon's route returned to normal in 2022 after being modified due to the pandemic, but the Marathon's route remained split between Louisville and southern Indiana. KDF President and CEO Matt Gibson said the race has a special history and tradition with Iroquois Park and the South Louisville community.

"We know running through this area is something our runners have missed, and we are excited to return the Marathon to its South Louisville roots in the spring."

The GE Appliances miniMarathon and Marathon will begin on Main Street taking runners through downtown Louisville, along Fourth Street to the historic Churchill Downs racetrack. Runners will also get the chance to run a lap inside the racetrack just one week before the 150th Kentucky Derby!

Half Marathoners will then return to downtown Louisville and cross the finish line at Lynn Family Stadium.

Meanwhile, Marathoners will continue heading down Southern Parkway to race through Iroquois Park and then back to downtown for the finish line.

“From running through Churchill Downs, experiencing Louisville’s historic neighborhoods or grabbing a bourbon at the finish line, this race is unique to any other race in the country," Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances, said.

Registration for next year's race remains open.
