LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The official running of the Kentucky Derby is a more than a week away, but shoppers at a Kroger location in Prospect got a little surprise.
This year’s Kentucky Derby trophy was on display at the store.
Churchill Downs is taking the trophy to different Kroger stores throughout the week, giving the public a chance to take photos with it.
The trophy is made out of 14-carat yellow and green gold, and features a special jeweled rose garland made with rubies and emeralds.
The trophy’s next appearance will be at the Springhurst Kroger on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
On Friday, it will be at Westport Road at Hurstborne Kroger from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
