More than 44,000 ballots cast in Jefferson County during early voting, officials say

According to Jefferson County Clerk's Office spokesperson, 13,809 people voted Thursday, 14,422 voted Friday and 15,742 voted Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With just days left until Election Day, 44,912 Jefferson County residents have already cast their ballot during early voting.

According to Erran Huber, the spokesperson for the Jefferson County Clerk's Office, 13,809 people voted on Thursday, 14,422 voted on Friday and 15,742 voted on Saturday.

Huber said he was encouraged by the day-over-day increase in ballots cast.

"It's trending upward, which we love to see," he said. "We know that every election counts, because we're the ones who help orchestrate it. But we want people to know that as well, and to believe it as well, because it's the truth."

As voters headed to the polls Saturday, both of Kentucky's gubernatorial candidates were on the campaign trail, making some of their final pleas to voters.

Democratic incumbent, Gov. Andy Beshear continued his 10-day bus tour in Bowling Green, where he was joined by Kentucky Agricultural Commissioner candidate Sierra Enlow and his father and former Governor Steve Beshear.

"I'm feeling great. I'm losing my voice but I'm feeling great. You see crowds like this, and you're seeing them all over Kentucky and Western Kentucky," Beshear said. "It is really exciting to see people so excited about our future."

Republican gubernatorial candidate and current Kentucky Attorney General, Daniel Cameron, was also joined by family as he spoke to a crowd packed inside Louisville's largest FOP lodge.

"Together, we have the capacity to hold firm [Kentucky] values and principles," Cameron said. "I don't want you to forget this feeling that you have right now. I want to make sure that everyone gets to the polls on November 7."

The Kentucky general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Polls close at 6 p.m.

Remember: if you are in line by 6 p.m., you are still eligible to vote, so stay in line until your ballot has been cast.
