FRANKFORT, Ky. — A special C-130 flyover helped mark the opening of a new Joint Force Headquarters building for the Kentucky National Guard.
An official ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday.
Governor Andy Beshear said, the new facility is a step forward to help the guard reach its goals while also celebrating the men and women who serve.
"You deserve the support of the entire United States of America every day you serve, especially at the scariest of times,” Gov. Andy Beshear said.
The $15.9 million facility will be used by the Kentucky Army and Air National Guard.
Leaders hope it will help the guard’s different operations work together more effectively.
"To be in the same physical environment with each of those other entities, it hugely increases the efficiency that we work together as an organization, that we work together for the head of our organization, and all the collaborative staff work that takes place for each one of those entities because everyone is involved,” Major Gen. Haldane Lamberton said.
The new facility is located on the Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort.
