More relief on the way for Kentucky families affected by deadly storms Memorial Day weekend

Families in Kentucky who were affected by violent weather over the holiday weekend will have a little more help.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After deadly storms affected thousands across Kentucky over the Memorial Day holiday, more relief is on the way.

To help the financial burden on individuals and families, Kentucky Realtors has partnered with the National Association of Realtors Foundation in providing $200,000 in relief funds to support individuals and families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the storms and tornadoes.

The funds will help those affected with mortgage or rental payments and lodging assistance for those who were displaced.

Kentucky Realtors said the assistance is limited to one month of housing expenses up to $1,000 per household.

This only applies to those who experienced home damage following the State of Emergency issued on May 26.

Those impacted should visit the Kentucky Realtors website to fill out an application and must do so by July 30 at 5 p.m.

The storms caused thousands in Louisville and across Kentucky to lose power for several days. It also caused five deaths, including one in Jefferson County.
