LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Following devastating storms that destroyed entire communities across four states, Verizon is offering its customers in the hardest hit areas free cell service for a week.
Customers and small businesses in Mayfield and Owensboro Kentucky, and the hardest hit parts of Edwardsville, Illinois, will receive free unlimited calling, texting and data from Dec. 12 through Dec. 20.
These Kentucky counties are also included:
- Breckinridge
- Caldwell
- Graves
- Hopkins
- Lyon
- Marshall
- Ohio
“We know that there is hard work ahead to recover," Matt Carr, Verizon consumer vice president, said. "This is one small thing we can do to ensure they are able to connect worry-free following the storm.”
Verizon's Response team is also on stand-by 24/7 to assist first responders.
They are mobilizing charging stations, devices, special equipment, emergency vehicles and more to support local, state and federal agencies.
Verizon said first responder customers with wireless priority services should utitlize *272 when placing calls.
“Our thoughts are with all of those impacted by these historic tornadoes,” Carr said.
