LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two people are in custody after leading officers on a chase through Kentucky and southern Indiana, according to a news release from the Jeffersonville Police Department.

They say around 11:21 a.m. patrol officers in Jeffersonville were told about a suspect wanted for felony kidnapping out of Daviess County, Kentucky.

After they found the car, officers attempted a traffic stop near the intersection of Fredrick and Main Streets. The car, with three people inside, initially stopped but fled the scene when officers tried to approach.

A chase began through the west district of Jeffersonville, into Louisville and onto I-64 west to the Shawnee Expressway. The car then exited the expressway at Virginia Avenue, the release said.

Around 11:27 a.m. the Louisville Metro Police Department was notified by Clark County law enforcement about a chase entering Kentucky.

The car then hit a pedestrian at 10th and Broadway. The pedestrian received "non-critical injuries" according to LMPD who assisted in the chase as backup and with an air unit.

Broadway was temporarily closed from 9th to 11th streets while officers were conducting an investigation into the collision.

The release from Jeffersonville police said one of the backseat passengers ran from the car near 28th and Dumesnil Street during the chase.

The car then continued west into downtown Louisville and returned to Jeffersonville via the 2nd Street bridge.

Then, the car went north on I-65 and attempted to return south, where officers deployed stop sticks. A PIT maneuver was also used by the Indiana State Police.

The two suspects were identified as Chad Devore who was the driver and Brooke Lescallett, the passenger and suspect wanted for felony kidnapping.

Both were taken into custody after a brief standoff where they tried to cut themselves before being arrested.

They got medical attention before being taken to Clark Memorial Hospital, the release said.

Additional charges for Devore and Lescallett and the warrant resulting from the pursuit are pending.
