Kids receive free eye exams during Robbie Valentine's basketball camp

While the kids were learning to do better layups, they also got a chance to see how well their eyes were doing.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former University of Louisville basketball player Robbie Valentine’s basketball summer camp is once again getting kids on the court, but the young athletes are also received a bonus.

The kids received free eye exams on Tuesday courtesy of Dr. Mark Lynn and his team.

“About 80% of everything a child learns comes through their eyes. If their eyes don't function well, they're not going to do well. Especially in sports, where it's really critical to have not just good vision, but the eyes working together as a unit, and having good depth perception to be able to determine what's going on,” Dr. Lynn said.

Valentine said kids don’t like to get their eyes checked when they’re with parents but it can be more fun when it’s done in a basketball setting.

Kids who had their eyes checked, need glasses, or experience any other problems will receive a follow up Dr. Lynn.
