Oldham County metal band receives first-ever Grammy nomination

OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. — Grammy nominations were announced Friday and a metal band from the Louisville area is among the top artists up for an award.

Knocked Loose, from Oldham County, was nominated for Best Metal Performance.

The nomination was for their single “Suffocate” featuring Poppy. It’s the third song on their most recent album, “You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To.”

Band members include Bryan Garris, Isaac Hale, Nicko Calderon, Kevin Otten, and Kevin “Pacsun” Kaine. This is their first-ever Grammy nomination.

Other artists nominated in the category include Judas Priest, Metallica, Spirit Box, and Gojira, Marina Viotti and Victor Le Masne.

If Knocked Loose wins the Grammy, they’ll become the second artist in the Louisville-area to win the prestigious award for a second year in a row. 

In 2024, the Louisville Orchestra won Best Classical Instrumental Solo for its performance of “The American Project.”

The 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony will be held next February in Los Angeles.
