Kosair for Kids asking for donations after toy room floods; How you can help

A malfunctioning air conditioner and backed up drain caused the flooding, officials said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kosair for Kids needs your help; their toy donations were ruined after a drain malfunction flooded their toy room.

The donations were already wrapped and gathered for their Christmas giveaway to Kosair children, and now need to be replaced.

Officials said an air conditioner malfunctioned and a drain was backed up, which caused the flooding.

Inches of water pooled in the room and damaged the toys.

The organization tries to work a year in advance to be ready for the Kosair Kids holiday party.

But now they're pushing for a big donation effort this summer.

"We usually have a Christmas in July drive," Stephanie Smith with Kosair for Kids said. "We were almost so set that we were, you know, not needing to push that hard, but now we need to push harder than ever. We need to replace probably half of what we need for the holiday party."

If you want to help, you can donate through their website, or buy things from their Amazon wish list.
