HENRY COUNTY, Ky. — A woman is dead after losing control of her vehicle and hitting a tree in Henry County on Friday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 5 in Campbellsburg said they received a 911 call in reference to a single vehicle collision with "entrapment."

KSP personnel, Henry County EMS, and Henry County Fire responded to the scene.

Officers said the preliminary investigation showed that a Chrysler passenger, driven by Stephanie Nichols, was traveling eastbound on Ballardsville Road near the 5800 block.

For unknown reasons, Nichols lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the westbound lane, and drove off the road. Authorities said she continued driving off the road until hitting a tree.

Nichols was pronounced dead on the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.
