LA GRANGE, Ky. — Authorities in Oldham County are investigating a deadly house fire that left one woman dead over the weekend.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, a neighbor reported a house fire in the 4000 block of Delaware Drive just after 9 p.m. That’s in the Echo Valley subdivision.
Several local fire crews from LaGrange, South Oldham and Ballardsville responded to the blaze.
Tuesday, LaGrange Fire Department Assistant Chief Adrian Doleman said the fire produced heavy smoke throughout the one-story home.
When firefighters entered the building, they found a 62-year-old woman. She was assessed by Oldham County EMS and crews tried to resuscitate her but she was later pronounced dead.
Her cause of death and identity have not been released at this time.
Doleman said a dead dog was also found inside the home following a second search.
According to a news release, the only other person who lives at the residence was not home at the time of the fire.
It took crews nearly an hour to put out the fire, officials said. Although the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, Doleman said crews determined the fire started from outside the house.
A joint investigation between the Oldham County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Oldham County Police Department remains ongoing.
