Lexington native Alex Francke named Miss Kentucky

Francke will represent Kentucky in the Miss America Pageant later this year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Hours after the crown was placed on her head, Lexington native and new Miss Kentucky Alex Francke still feels like it’s a dream.

“Last night was an absolute dream and a whirlwind. I think it was kind of a blur because I don’t remember them putting the crown on my head. I don’t remember taking pictures, but this has been my dream since I was in high school when I first met Miss Kentucky,” Francke said.

Francke is a University of Kentucky graduate and hopes her year is filled with unique connections.

“I think that one of the best things I can do as Miss Kentucky during my year is make people feel like they’re the most important person in the room,” she said. I want to connect with as many Kentuckians as I can because that’s what makes this state so awesome. It’s not the things on businesses or politicians. The thing that sets Kentuckians apart is the people.”

Francke immediately begins her duties as Miss Kentucky.

Details about the Miss America pageant have not been released but Francke says she’s excited to represent the Bluegrass.
