LMPD releases street closures for Light Up Louisville

Light Up Louisville is Dec. 7 and Louisville Metro Police are sharing which streets are closed for the event.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Police has announced street closures ahead of the city’s annual Light Up Louisville celebration.

Light Up Louisville takes place on Dec. 7 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Residents and visitors looking for parking should avoid these streets due to restricted access and there being no parking (on both sides of the street) until the end of the event.

Wednesday, Dec. 4

  • West Jefferson Street from Fifth Street to Sixth Street; there is no parking on the north side of the street.

Thursday, Dec. 5

  • Sixth Street from West Market Street to West Liberty Street
  • West Jefferson Street from Fifth Street to Seventh Street

Friday, Dec. 6

  • Fourth Street from West Market Street to West Jefferson Street

Saturday, Dec. 7

  • West Jefferson Street from Third Street to Eighth Street
  • West Market Street from Seventh Street to Fifth Street
  • West Liberty Street from Fourth Street to Eighth Street
  • Armory Place from West Muhammad Ali Boulevard to West Liberty Street
  • Fourth Street from West Liberty Street to West Market Street
  • Fifth Street from West Liberty Street to West Market Street
  • Sixth Street from West Main Street to West Market Street
  • Seventh Street from West Market Steet to West Muhammad Ali Boulevard
  • Eighth Street from West Jefferson Street to West Liberty Street

Light Up Louisville will take place in Jefferson Square Park featuring the Lots of Lights parade, a vendor village and live entertainment on two stages.

There will also be a 200-drone holiday show over Metro Hall and the lighting of the 40-foot spruce tree by Santa.

Mayor Craig Greenberg is encouraging Louisville residents to visit downtown for the Christmas season.
