LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Louisville Metro Police Department is celebrating the promotion of 6 officers.

Mayor Greg Fischer and Chief Steve Conrad welcomed the newest commanders of the department at a Monday morning ceremony.

The promotions included sergeant, lieutenant, major, lieutenant colonel and colonel.

Colonel Michael Sullivan was sworn in during the ceremony, addressing the crowd while highlighting the department’s successes.

“Over the last couple years I've had the opportunity to visit a lot of police departments across the country, and what I can tell you is the men and women of the Louisville police department consistently, in the face of real adversity, perform. We have one of the best police departments in the country, hands down."
