LMPD: 2 people in critical condition after crash shuts down portion of Frankfort Avenue

Louisville Metro Police said a car hit two people around 9:30 p.m.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police shut down Frankfort Avenue in both directions near Vernon Avenue where the railroad tracks cross the road after police said two pedestrians were hit by a car.

They said it happened around 9:30 p.m.

Varanese General Manager David Allen said the crash happened in front of the restaurant. He said the two people hit are an elderly couple who had just left the restaurant and were slowly crossing the street.

In an update on Wednesday, police said both were in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and that the woman's injuries were more severe.

Allen told WHAS11 News the woman who hit them with her car stayed at the scene and was very upset.

Police said no charges are expected.
