LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police are investigating after a man was killed after a shooting in the Portland neighborhood Monday morning.
According to police, LMPD's First Division responded to a call of a shooting near the intersection of 22nd Street and Bank Street around 8 a.m. There, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The Jefferson County Coroner later identified the man as 40-year-old Keith Smith. He was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital in "critical" condition, however, LMPD said hours later he died in the hospital.
A department spokesperson said LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating.
There are no known suspects at this time.
