JCPS says normal operations have resumed after man found shot in Old Louisville

Noe Middle School, duPont Manuel High School, and Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) were on heightened security.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Security was heightened at nearby Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) after a man was found shot in the Old Louisville neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 2nd Street and Hill Street in the Old Louisville neighborhood around 12:45 p.m.

Police said they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was then transported by EMS to the UofL Hospital for treatment. Officers said he is expected to survive.

Carolyn Callahan, a spokesperson for JCPS, confirmed that Noe Middle School, duPont Manuel High School, and Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) were on heightened security due to the shooting.

All schools have resumed normal operations after being given the all clear by police around 1:45 p.m. All students and staff are safe.

LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating.

Police said traffic control measures will be in place for the next hour or two in this area.

"We realize there is normally a moderate level of traffic along Hill St around school dismissal time and it may affected," LMPD said. "No other concerns exist regarding businesses and schools in the immediate area."

Anyone with information is asked to call LMPD's anonymous tip line (502) 574-LMPD (5673) or use their online tip portal.
