LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – WHAS11 News has learned a Metro Police lieutenant is suing her employer and Metro Government, alleging they didn’t do enough to protect her after she says she was sexually harassed by a male co-worker.
The complaint says last year she was sent an explicit photo in a text message by another LMPD lieutenant. The male co-worker was suspended for 20 days without pay.
The female officer was told she wouldn’t have to work any special details with her male co-worker but the complaint says he continued to violate written orders.
Her attorney Thomas Clay says LMPD and the city of Louisville should answer to why those written orders weren’t followed through.
“She wants accountability. She wants the chain of command to explain why it hadn’t taken corrective action and hopefully change the culture that allows this kind of conduct to go on with what she considers to be minimal disciplinary action,” Clay said.
LMPD has not responded to WHAS11’s request for comment.
WHAS11 News has decided to omit names in the lawsuit because of the nature of the allegations.
The male officer is not specifically named as a plaintiff.
