14 cars seized after street takeover incidents Sunday night, LMPD says

LMPD said incidents of street takeovers happened Sunday night on Preston Highway and a parking lot next to Slugger Field.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Police have seized 14 cars this weekend after more illegal street takeovers.

In a Facebook post, the department said takeovers were reported in three different locations Sunday night – two on Preston Highway and one next to Slugger Field.

LMPD said motorists were seen “spinning out” and firing celebratory gunfire from their vehicles into the air on Preston Highway.

They added many of the vehicles confiscated were used as “blockers” so motorists could slide on public and private property.

The department said they received tips about the takeovers and created a detail to respond.

Police also confiscated two guns and arrested several people for offenses including DUI and reckless driving.
