LMPD searches for driver who crashed stolen car into home in southwest Jefferson County

Witnesses told police the driver may have thrown evidence into a nearby body of water while running away.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities are searching for a driver who crashed a stolen car into a home in southwest Jefferson County on Saturday.

Louisville Metro Police said witnesses saw the suspect flee the scene after crashing their car into a utility pole and then a home in the 7200 block of Arnoldtown Road around 4:30 p.m. That's just south of the Pleasure Ridge Park area.

A department spokesperson said the vehicle was recently reported stolen.

When officers with LMPD's Third Division arrived on scene, they found the family inside the home was unharmed. Police believe speed and weather conditions were a factor in the crash.

A spokesperson confirmed the divers were able to locate a firearm in the water.

Witnesses described the driver as a white male with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants.

If anyone in the Arnoldtown Road area sees the suspect, they are urged to immediately call 911.
